Libya’s prime minister and the Chief Prosecutor’s Office decided to free Al-Saadi Gaddafi.
Security sources reported on Sunday that a son of Muammar Gaddafi, the overthrown leader of Libya, had been freed from prison in the capital city of Tripoli.
Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh approved the decision made by the Libyan Chief Prosecutor’s Office to liberate 48-year-old Al-Saadi Gaddafi.
It was also mentioned that he relocated to Turkey after leaving the nation.
Al-Saadi was a member of the Libyan national football team and held control over the nation’s sports operations under Gaddafi.
He had fled to Niger after the collapse of the Gaddafi regime in 2011 but was brought back to Libya to stand trial in 2014 on charges of embezzlement during the Libyan Football Federation presidency.
Announcing the release, Dbeibeh said on Twitter that the country cannot proceed without reconciliation and establishing a state without providing justice, applying the law, respecting the principle of separation of powers and complying with judicial procedures and decisions.
