IGP offers a ¢20k reward to those who kill Mfantseman MP.
A ¢20,000 reward has been set by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) James Oppong-Boanuh for the murder of Ekow Quansah Hayford, the current Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency.
The money will only be provided for reliable information that results in the arrest of the offenders, according to a statement released by the Service’s Public Relations Directorate and signed by Superintendent of Police Sheila Kesse Abayie-Buckman.
Following an attack on their vehicle on the Nkusukum Mankessim-Abeadze Duadze road in the Central Region, Mr. Hayford and his driver were shot and killed.
Witnesses said that when the MP’s driver tried to drive through the heist operation, the six or so alleged armed robbers began firing at his car.
The driver was subsequently shot, resulting in him losing control over the vehicle.
The robbers are said to have become enraged when the MP introduced himself to them. After that, he was shot twice.
The statement said that the IGP has sent a team of detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist the Central Region’s Crime Scene Team in their investigation of the incident, while also advising the people to maintain composure.
