Asamoah Gyan, also known as “Baby Jet,” is Ghana’s all-time greatest scorer and former captain of the national side. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced preparations to host a testimonial game in his honour.

On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the GFA’s Communications Department released a statement making the announcement. The purpose of the event is to honour Gyan’s outstanding accomplishments with the Black Stars since his 2003 debut as well as his outstanding commitment to Ghanaian football.

Through his dazzling performances, leadership, and charisma, Asamoah Gyan has left an indelible mark on Ghanaian and African football. The upcoming testimonial promises to be a memorable occasion to honour his legendary achievements and celebrate a career that inspired millions across the continent.

The GFA stated that it is working closely with Gyan to finish arrangements, and more information will be released in due course, even though the event’s date and location have not yet been determined.

Over the course of his remarkable sixteen-year international career, Gyan made 109 appearances for the Black Stars and scored fifty-one (51) goals. On November 19, 2003, at the age of seventeen, he scored his first goal for Ghana against Somalia in the ninetieth minute.

With six (6) goals in three tournaments—Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, and Brazil 2014—he continues to be Africa’s top scorer in FIFA World Cup history.

Gyan began his professional career with Liberty Professionals in Ghana before joining Udinese in Italy. He later featured for Modena, Rennes, and Sunderland, as well as clubs in the UAE, China, and Turkey, including Al Ain, Al Ahli, Shanghai SIPG, and Kayserispor. He concluded his career with Legon Cities FC in 2021.

The upcoming testimonial is expected to be a fitting tribute to Gyan’s enduring legacy, celebrating his impact on Ghanaian football and his role as a source of inspiration for the next generation of Black Stars players.
