The largest Nigerian jollof serving is officially set by Chef Hilda Baci.

Hilda Baci, a well-known Nigerian cook, has once again made her mark on the Guinness World Records with her most recent culinary achievement. The meal weighed an astounding 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz), setting a new record for the largest plate of Nigerian-style jollof rice.

On Friday, September 12, 2025, she accomplished the feat in partnership with the Gino Nigeria brand. Guinness World Records formally verified the accomplishment in a statement praising her accomplishment.

Hilda said the event was the product of “nine hours of fire, passion, and teamwork,” adding that 1,200 kg of gas were used to produce an incredible 16,600 plates of rice that were “served with joy, love, and community,” according to the group.

The historic event, which took place in Lagos, attracted large numbers of fans, foodies, and well-wishers who were excited to see the milestone. Nigeria’s rich culinary legacy is highlighted by the dish, which was made using over 250 bags of rice and locally produced tomatoes, peppers, onions, and spices.

Setting the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon in 2023 thrust Hilda Baci into the public eye and brought her initial international attention. When she reflected on her most recent performance, she said she was proud to have not only regained a title but also to have used the occasion to promote Nigerian food internationally.

Technical teams, volunteers, and professional chefs supported the project, ensuring accuracy, safety, and appropriate documentation at every stage. Beyond its vast scope, the accomplishment has been celebrated as a cultural turning point that fortifies Nigeria’s culinary identity and fosters national pride.
