On Friday, November 7, 2025, the Recording Academy unveiled the final list of nominees for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Ghanaian artists did not receive a single nomination for the 2026 Grammy Awards, which is set to take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

Prominent Ghanaian musicians were hopeful about receiving acknowledgement for their musical endeavours at the event the next year prior to the revelation of the entire nominations list.

The Recording Academy had shortlisted musical endeavours by Shatta Wale, Epixode, Black Sherif, singer Moliy, and Gyakie for candidacy. They were all unable to make the final list.

Nigeria, Ghana’s musical competitors, received multiple nominations, and artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, and Omah Lay are all vying for some of the major prizes in their respective categories.

Shatta Wale’s supporters had shown optimism in his receiving a nomination and representing Ghana in the awards program prior to the unveiling of the candidates list on Friday, November 7, 2025.

The dancehall artist has submitted his 2025 hit song, Street Crown, off the Voice of the Crown EP for consideration in an attempt to receive his first-ever solo nomination.

On October 1, 2025, Shatta Wale posted a screenshot of the confirmation he got after submitting his music to be considered for a nomination at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards on Facebook.

The dancehall artist announced on social media that his song has been nominated for Best African Music Performance.

He accompanied the post with a long message, stating: ““This moment is not just about me—it’s about Ghana, Africa, and every fan of African Dancehall. From the streets to the world stage, our sound and culture now stand on the biggest platforms.”
